Cynthia Ashdown, RN, ANP-BC, CCD, MSN

Cynthia Ashdown, RN, ANP-BC, CCD, MSN is a master prepared nationally board certified Adult Nurse Practitioner. She obtained her original nursing training at the Hartford Hospital School of Nursing in Hartford, Connecticut in 1973 and got her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Louisiana State University Medical Center, School of Nursing in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1979.  She obtained a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas specializing as an Adult Nurse Practitioner in 1995. The International Society for Clinical Densitometry granted Cindy the title of Certified Clinical Densitometrist (CCD) in 2004.

The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston awarded Cindy the 1995 Leadership award.  She has been a Nurse Practitioner preceptor for UTMB in Galveston. She is a member of the American College of Nurse Practitioners, Texas Nurse Practitioners, and the International Society for Clinical Densitometry.

As an Adult Nurse Practitioner, Cindy can see patients for follow-up appointments.  Cindy works in collaboration with the doctors at TIRME, particularly with Dr Steven Petak MD.  Cindy can do patient examinations, write prescriptions, order laboratory tests, order x-rays, order bone density testing and interprete the results of these tests.  She has a special interest in hormonal disorders, menopausal symptoms, osteoporosis, thyroid disorders and weight management.
